![]() ![]() To help bring people and businesses together, we've introduced free and paid tools like personalized ads, Reels and messaging. Important Update to Shops on Facebook and Instagram (Official) What they may be underestimating is that customers already have a website to sell and may just increase spend on their Google Ads having been spurned. Its too soon to know exactly how this will play out but it seems like all in gamble by Meta to tip customers onto their platform for selling or cut them loose. To add to the mystery the phrase "for businesses in your region" is included in the statement as Shops will be supported in the US for another year until Aug 2024 but not so in this region - Ireland or EU? But I can tell you more often that not its a very slow frustrating process where you often end up right back at the start with no support response. You cant call anyone, you can only email a support address or log a request via their website or chat. My experience of Meta support has been poor. So picture a scenario where a seller goes all in with Meta and there is a problem. Its one thing if your 5 page brochure website goes down for a day - its quite another if your 5000 product Ecommerce site does. ![]() Having dealt with website owners for over 20 years since the dawn of Ecommerce is the one aspect of providing a digital service that needs excellent, reliable and most local service to resolve issues. What this appears to mean is that Meta want shoppers to stay on their platform and complete the checkout experience on Facebook and Instagram - but not via a website. "For businesses in your region, this means we will focus attention and resources on products like Advantage+ shopping campaigns, messaging, and Reels, which drive the highest performance and ROI, and give shoppers the most personalized experience." Not so from 10th August 2023 when "Facebook and Instagram shops will no longer be available" according to the statement from Meta. The customer sees a products which can be tagged in a post, clicks on the tag and they are redirected to the sellers website to review the product in detail and checkout. This sync can take place hourly or daily and saves the website owner alot of work while presenting their followers with a very easy method to shop their products. It caught my eye because the company are announcing changes to their Shops feature which allows sellers to connect website shops to the Social pages.Ĭurrently website owners can pretty easily syncronise their website shops catalogue to their Facebook and Instagram shop via a plugin which pushes product info up to Meta and it shows on the Shop tab of the Social Platforms. An email from Meta (Facebook/Insta parent company) hit my mailbox on 11th May 2023. ![]()
